For my mother the doctor

My mother finally graduated after seven long years from her PhD in gifted education. Graduation ceremonies with the anticipation, the nervousness- probably brought about more by the insane heels and even more insane short dresses and the gathering of friends and family allow for a time to pause and reflect.

It would be easy to start spouting the typically cliched words of how inspired and proud I am of my mother for completing an epic achievement. It’s not like I am not any of these things but I’m sure everyone has heard it all before.

All I really wanted to say was that you know that you are doing something right if your children or someone else sees what you do and desires to follow in your footsteps.

For both of my parents this is true
